Best Halloween Events In Orange County

Halloween is a fun and spooky holiday celebrated by many, and fall is one of my favorite times of the year! If you’re looking for a fun time in Orange County, we are so lucky that there’s some amazing activities happening.

When I think of Halloween-themed activities to do in Orange County, my go-to event is Knott’s Scary Farm. I can’t let the season go by without visiting its haunted mazes. So much fun! Halloween also brings us the Disney Halloween classic “Spooktacular Halloween season” that they hold every year. One of the best events in Orange County!

If you’re looking to enjoy Halloween-themed activities and avoid the crazy crowds, here are the Orange county Halloween events in each city!

Anaheim Halloween Events

Anaheim Fall Festival and Halloween Parade

This annual fall festival is celebrating the 100 year old tradition in the city of Anaheim. The even is known for it’s amazing parade that extends through Central Street Promenade and ends at the Anaheim Packing House. Fun for the whole family, kids ages 12 and under are invited to wear costumes for a fun Halloween costume contest. You’ll also have plenty of places here to get the perfect Halloween-themed photo ops, so make sure you have your phone fully charged!

If you have furry friends, they also host a dog Halloween costume contest! It’s one of the best parts of the event. I love that the parade also has a pet costume parade and contest. It’s always a fun time for everyone!

Buena Park Halloween Events

Cops "N" Goblins

This fun event is presented by the Buena Park police department and Community service Department. It’s perfect for the whole family, because this is a free event in orange county. You’ll love the trip to the pumpkin patch, exploring the haunted house, playing carnival games, doing the kids crafts, and of course the kids costume contest is always fun! Be sure to come hungry because there are plenty of food trucks and lots of trick or treating. So bring something to collect candy in!

Silverado's Days Festival

This amazing festival in Buena Park is another free event in Orange County (yay for no admission fee), and has been hosted for 66 years. There’s plenty to do including carnival games, and you can purchase food from a variety of different vendors. There is also an amateur horseshoe contest, corn hole tournament, dog show, and chili cook-off. A great way to spend the day!

Costa Mesa Halloween Events

Boo Ha Ha Oktoberfest

Ready for an adults on fun night out? Boo Ha Ha is an adult-themed Halloween event in Orange County, that is a super lively and engaging event. It has live music, delicious food, and so many different types of American and German beer you can drink. This is an annual Halloween-themed event you don’t want to miss if you like Oktoberfest. Parking is $10.00 and General Admission is $47.50-$55.00 on Friday, and $47.50-$67.50 on Saturday. Such a fun way to celebrate the Halloween weekend!

Fullerton Halloween Events

Downtown Fullerton Market

During the week, The Fullerton Market is a typical farmer’s market, but during the Halloween season, they turn it into so much more! You’ll find great food and drinks, a live DJ playing popular and spooky music, kids costume contests, dog costume contests, free giveaways, and so much more. You definitely don’t want to miss this family friendly event!

Garden Grove Halloween Events

The Jamboree in Garden Grove has so much to offer to get you into the Halloween spirit! Enjoy train rides, inflatable obstacle courses, a petting zoo, a reptile booth with educational shows, carnival games, a pumpkin patch, and a pumpkin decorating craft! Kids are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes! And kids ages 3-13 get a pumpkin and pumpkin decorating kit so they can get creative. Every attendee also gets a trick-or-treating bag!

This is a super popular event in Orange County, so make sure you reserve your tickets early because there is a limited number of tickets for sale!

Huntington Beach Halloween Events

Halloween Fall Fest

Admission:

  • $20.00 per family

This is another great event in Orange County! There are several local businesses, as well as the fire and marine safety crew, that come out to the event and hand out sweet Halloween treats. This is a perfect event for kids of all ages. In addition to the the trick or treating, the kids can play on the bounce houses and inflatable slides, and also enjoy the carnival games.

It’s always a fun time, and I love that everyone is wearing family-friendly costumes. Which is perfect because there’s always a costume contest for the kids and the dogs! Plus plenty of opportunities to take advantage of the festive photo booth!

Pete’s Spookeasy – Huntington Beach

If your Halloween plans lean more toward cocktails than candy, you’ll love Pete’s Spookeasy at the Hyatt Huntington Beach. It’s a Halloween-themed pop-up bar with smoky craft cocktails, vintage décor, and just the right amount of spooky atmosphere. It’s classy Halloween — no lines, no chaos, just good drinks and good company. Try their Witching Hour cocktail if it’s on the menu; it’s smoky, sweet, and strong enough to count as dessert.

Lake Forest Halloween Events

Heritage Hill Historical Park

Get your cameras ready and have a great time exploring the Halloween-decorated historical homes and sites! Children are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes, and kids of all ages will have a great time going through the hay maze. Plus there’s a scavenger hunt to collect sweet Halloween treats at the end of the event. Even better, parking and admission are free!

Laguna Niguel, Laguna Hills, and Laguna Beach Halloween Events

Haunted Trails-Laguna Niguel

The haunted trail is one of the nicest Halloween events in Orange County! It’s seriously amazing! Located near Crown Valley/Laguna Niguel Park, the event is held the weekend prior to Halloween. This is the perfect place to visit to get in the Halloween spirit early!

If you have younger kids, they have a pre-dusk haunted trail that doesn’t include the monsters, volunteers dressed in scary Halloween costumes, or other spooky features. So if you do have small children, be sure to visit during the hours of 4 pm -6 pm. And don’t forget to book your tickets in advance. The parking and event can get super busy.

Pageant of the Monsters

The Pageant of the Monsters is an event in Orange County that takes place every five years. Guests can expect to walk through a Haunted house with an artistic/parody theme. One of the best events was in 2018 when they did a haunted house based off of Raiders of the Lost Ark. So much fun!

This is a great trick-or-treat event as well, and kids will enjoy the art workshops, live Dj music, games, movie screening, and other Halloween activities that will create a fun-filled family outing. You are all invited to wear a Halloween costume, but keep in mind there are no masks allowed!

Corona Del Mar and Newport Beach Halloween Events

Newport Beach Halloween Pub Crawl

For the adults, the Newport Beach Halloween Pub Crawl is the ultimate night out. Think of it as the grown-up version of trick-or-treating, except your “treats” are drink specials at places like Baja Sharkeez, Malarky’s, and The Blue Beet. The costumes get creative, the crowd’s fun, and the energy in the Peninsula is unreal. Just skip the parking headache and take an Uber — trust me, it’s worth it.

Orange Halloween Events

Irvine Pumpkin Patch

Irvine Regional Park hosts one of the best pumpkin patches in Orange County! There are so many activities from a petting zoo, hay maze, hay rides, haunted house, pumpkin ring toss, cookie decorating, face painting, pumpkin decorating, moon bounce, bounce house, carnival games, hay pyramid, pony rides, and horse rides. The list just keeps going! It also has a fully stocked snack bar that has hot dogs, hamburgers, and other yummy snacks for sale.

Guests can also enjoy the Irvine Park railroad which has mini train rides. Perfect for the kids! Just to note, there is free admission to the pumpkin patch, but you must go to the train station to purchase activity tickets to do all the activities. I’ve been going for years, and so many people think it is one of the best pumpkin patches in Southern California. I would have to agree! This is the perfect patch to bring the whole family. They will not be disappointed!

Rancho Santa Margarita Halloween Events

Halloween Family Festival

Samlarc’s Halloween Family Festival is a safe trick-or-treat event for the whole family! You can enjoy a pet costume contest, as well as a kid costume contest. Perfect for everyone! There are also lots of local vendors, great music, inflatable bounce houses, and of course fun games. They created a truly fun Halloween party that is a great event every year!

Santa Ana Halloween Events

Put on your Halloween costume and follow the Halloween trail through the Santa Ana Zoo. Plus, you’ll get to see all the zoo animals, take lots of pictures, and get into the Halloween spirit!

Camp Creep It Real at the Santa Ana Heritage Museum of Orange County

The Santa Ana Heritage Museum will hold a camp event where there will be vendors, photo ops, Hocus Pocus celebrities, creepy camp counselors, food, treats, and live music. This years theme is Horror camps! Should be a fun time for all!

Spooky Artwalk – Downtown Santa Ana

Downtown Santa Ana is always lively, but the Spooky Artwalk takes it up a notch. Artists, musicians, and pop-up vendors take over the streets with Halloween-themed art and performances. It’s creative, colorful, and totally OC — a perfect mix of culture and fun. I like to start the night at 4th Street Market for dinner, then wander the Artwalk with a coffee or dessert in hand. It’s chill, social, and a great way to spend a fall evening.

The Gershon Dungeon – Santa Ana

Hidden in a quiet Santa Ana neighborhood, The Gershon Dungeon has built a cult following among Halloween lovers. It’s a home haunt — completely designed and run by locals — but it feels like a professional attraction. The line can get long, so go early, and make sure to be respectful of the neighborhood. They don’t charge admission, but donations help keep it going. Every year it gets more elaborate, and it’s one of those things that make you proud to live in OC — people really go all out for this stuff.

Art House of Horrors – The Frida Cinema, Santa Ana

Every October, The Frida Cinema goes all in on Halloween with nightly screenings of horror classics and cult favorites. You’ll find everything from Beetlejuice to The Shining to The Rocky Horror Picture Show. The vibe is always fun, the crowd is into it, and they even do themed snacks and drinks. Catch a midnight showing if you can — it’s one of those OC experiences that reminds you why we love our little local art house theaters.

Stanton Halloween Events

One of the best annual events hosted by the city! Attendees can enjoy live music from a DJ playing pop and spooky music, spooky stories time, Halloween creepy crafts, costume contests, and trick or treating. Definitely a fun event you don’t want to miss in Orange County!

Halloween Fest is a popular community event! What’s great is that all the free activities include trick or treating, hay rides, crafts, a spooktacular dance party, a pumpkin decorating and carving contest, and of course a kids and dog costume contest. You don’t want to miss it!
