3 Best Camping Destinations In Orange County

3 Best Camping Destinations In Orange County

Camping in Orange County is one of my favorite activities to do especially during the spring and summer months. When we go camping as a family we try to take advantage of the nature trails, picnic areas, and biking trails and break from the hustle and bustle of the city. Here are the top three campgrounds in Orange County I love to go to.

Table of Contents

San Clemente State Beach Campground

San Clemente state beach is a fun place for families to camp right next to the beach. The site has convenient parking for two cars, picnic tables, firepits, hiking trails, beach access, good wifi, hot indoor showers, and clean bathrooms. They have electric, sewer, and water hookups. It is also close to the city of San Clemente. Pets are allowed and it is ADA-accessible. For beach camping, it is safe since they lock and close the front entrance of the state beach. The natural scenery is spectacular. Now if you want privacy and no loud noise this is not the campgrounds for you. It can get noisy with the highway and being closer to other group campsites. However, despite those small issues, San Clemente State Beach is a great place to go. You can purchase passes here.

Ronald W. Caspers Wilderness Park

Now, if you are looking to really get away from the city Ronald W. Caspers wilderness park is the place to go locally in Orange County. It is 8,000 acres of protected wilderness preserve located in the sandstone canyons of the coastal San Ana Mountains. The area is beautiful. You can take the nature trail and see some of the most wildlife and birds in Orange County. The site is great for large rigs, RV camping, and a good space for tent camping. There are currently no water hookups. You must bring your own potable water right now. Some of the spaces have electric hookups. There is an equestrian center to go horseback riding. There are biking and hiking trails. At night the park is a great place to watch the stars. It is absolutely peaceful. Click here to reserve a site.

Crystal Cove State Park Cottages

Crystal Cove State Park has campgrounds, but if you want to get away from the noise and the packed parking, the cottages are the way to go. You have parking right next to your cottage. Each cottage has picnic tables, a bathroom with hot showers, electric hookups, good wifi, good size parking space, and nice outdoor seating to enjoy the ocean and outdoors. It can be pretty pricey, but it is worth the price if you want to glamp next to an amazing beach. Click here if you want to reserve a cottage.
