5 Best Fall Events In Orange County

Fall is a fantastic season in Orange County, and is seriously one of my favorite times of year in Southern California! There is just something about the Fall season that makes me so excited to get out and about and explore our community. I don’t know if its the sweet Halloween treats, fun filled trips to the pumpkin patch with the whole family, fun Halloween themed shows, or carving my own pumpkin. It’s truly a fun time of the year, and I’m so excited that there are so many great fall events happening around Orange County.

If you’re wanting a fun list of fall activities for the entire family, here are my 5 favorite fall events in Orange County!

Table of Contents

Irvine Park Railroad & Pumpkin Patch

A trip to the pumpkin patch is one of the best fall traditions, and the perfect way to spend time together fun this fall! It’s always a fantastic time filled with laughter, cute photo ops, and maybe even a little pumpkin spice magic! The Irvine Park Railroad has all the things a family could ever want to experience during the fall season. It’s one of my family’s favorite events in Orange County, and it really gets us in the Halloween spirit. We all love the train rides, hay ride, searching for the perfect pumpkin in the patch, pumpkin decorating, and carnival games at the event. This is definitely a family friendly event, and the kids love the moon bounce house, face painting, John Deere racers, and panning for gold! Plus, there’s tons of delicious food!

Event Details:

The fall event starts September 14 and runs through October 31, 2024, and is open 7 days a week, weather permitting. Keep in mind that there are parking fees ($3 on weekdays and $5 on weekends), and activity tickets cost $7. Tip: You can get a book of 15 activity tickets for $90. Apple Picking at Oak Glen

Stock up on fresh apples for baking pies and making cider at Oak Glen! One of my favorite fall activities, I recommend heading over to Riley’s Farm for apple picking. While you’re picking all the apples you could want, the family can also enjoy the beautiful farm and walking trails, archery, and cider pressing. One of the best fall events for the family in Orange County!

If you’re wanting to sample some amazing fall food, you have to try the caramel apple dumpling. It’s simply amazing! And if you’re wanting a meal, I definitely recommend the ranch hand plate at the Heritage Homestead BBQ. So good!

Event Details:

The apple picking just started this past weekend (Labor Day weekend), and ends on Thanksgiving weekend. So you have plenty of time to head to the farm for a fun afternoon! Riley’s Farm is open on Saturdays (11 am – 4 pm) and Sunday (10 am – 4 pm) for apple picking fun.

Enjoy the sounds of live oompah bands, join in traditional Bavarian games, and dance the night away. The events start on September 8, 2024 at 6pm. Corona Del Mar Sandcastle Contest

If you want to enjoy the beautiful fall weather in California, you can always head to the beach! One of the longest fall traditions in Orange County is the sandcastle contest that’s held in Corona Del Mar State Beach. This annual fall activity has been taking place for over 60 years.

This events attracts many creative groups who build some of the most amazing creations and sandcastles I have ever seen. The theme for this year is the zoo, and I can’t wait to see the detailed animals and creations.

Event Details:

This years event will be held on September 29, 2024 from 10 am – 4:30 pm. There will be lots of food, music, and kid friendly activities. If you decide to attend the event and are looking for food recommendations, near the state beach, I recommend trying Sidedoor and Mama D’s Italian Kitchen. The Sidedoor prime rib and cuban sandwich are fantastic. And the calamari and any of the pastas at Mama D’s are mouthwatering. You can’t go wrong with any choice!
