Best Movie Theater In Orange County

Best Movie Theatre In Orange County

It has been a while since I last visited any theaters in Orange County. Now with big movies moving away from streaming platforms, the theaters have been getting a lot of foot traffic. I missed the theaters. The smell of buttered movie popcorn, comfortable seats, giant screens, and amazing acoustics and sound. Here is a list of some of my favorite theaters in Orange County.

Table of Contents

The Lot Newport Beach

A beautiful theater experience located in Newport Beach’s Fashion Island mall. If you want a luxury cinema experience The Lot is the theater for you. It has a full bar and restaurant you can enjoy before your movie. You can also order all your drinks and food and they will deliver it to you at your seat.

The Lot’s movie theater menu has anything you want. You can order any of the classic movie theater candy (Sour Patch Kids, Kit Kat, Red Vines, Reese’s Pieces), four different flavors of popcorn, hot dogs, hamburgers, sushi, pastries, ice cream, beer, soda, and mixed drinks.

The leather recliners are really comfortable. The theater and restrooms are very clean. The theater is not as large as Regal Irvine Spectrum. Make sure to purchase tickets through their site for reserved seating in advance. They have plenty of movie times for new blockbusters, but if you are planning to watch an older film times may get limited.

I think this is one of the best movie theaters in Orange County. You do not have a long wait to get into the theater, the food and drink are excellent, and there are plenty of places to sit and wait before your movie starts.

The location is near the coast so the weather during the spring and summer is great. Getting parking during busy times of the night can be a pain, but Fashion Island has valeting available if you happen to run into parking issues.

Tickets: $11.50

Address: 999 Newport Center Drive Newport Beach, Ca. 92660

Metropolitan Metrolux Theatre at San Clemente

Metrolux opened its doors in February of 2022. It is a brand new movie theater in Orange County. They have plush new leather recliners and stadium seating. The 4K projection, D-box seats, luxury heated recliners, digital sound, in-seat dining, and wine/bar are a plus.

Metrolux IMAX theater experience is awesome. I think the new digital projection and audio make the movie so much more entertaining and worth the ticket price. The movie theater and restrooms were very clean. I have watched two films at the Metrolux and both times the visit has been great.

The burgers and flatbread are pretty good. They have a lot of the concessions snacks you see normally at other movie theaters as well. The kids’ chicken tenders and popcorn are pretty good and the brownie and ice cream are great.

The great thing about this movie theater is that it is easier to park compared to Regal cinema in Irvine, and The Lot in Newport.

Tickets: $14.00 for Adults, $10.25 for Kids

Address: 101 W Avenida Vista Hermosa Unit 144, San Clemente, Ca. 92672

Regal Irvine Spectrum

Regal Irvine Spectrum is still one of my favorite movie theaters in Orange County. I would come to the theatre with my friends throughout high school and college. Even though it is an older theatre it is still a great place to watch movies.

They have adapted to other luxury cinema experiences. You can order your movie ticket in advance. There are no lines to wait to get to your seat since you have reserved seating. If you are on a budget you can see some films for as cheap as $5.00.

The food around the theater is pretty amazing. The Irvine Spectrum is a fun place to visit throughout the week and at night. There is ample free parking throughout the Spectrum and plenty of restaurants to eat at if you do not feel like theater food.

Regal did add a luxury theater wing. 8 of their theaters have been upgraded to 4DX, IMAX, king-sized leather recliners, enhanced menu, and theater lounge.

Tickets: $15.25 for Adults, $12.50 for Kids

Address: 500 Spectrum Rd. Irvine, Ca. 92618
